Build 58. Exhaust Silencer
First task was to find all the parts, which were all in the same bag that was used for the Cat and primaries (Although I think the bobbin and bracket were in the Axle bag at first, but I moved them to a more suitable place when I found them during the build!).
I enjoyed putting this on, mainly because I am now ready to start the engine (Coolant/oil and fuel has been added, and as I don't plan to drive the car, the clutch and brake are still left to bleed, but they won't affect the engine start!)
What was noticeable is that the washers in the bag for this job are not really an ideal size for the job, so I used my own M8 A2 grade washers, which I already had knocking about from a previous build step where I ordered some. First I attached the bracket, which needed a bit of a helping hand from an M8 tap just to clear some paint out of the hole.
The next job was to put the IVA trim on the front face of the cat guard. I found using a Dremel was best to cut the trim (this is the more heavy duty trim that will also be used around the dash), once cut I tidied up the edges with a knife as the Dremel did tend to melt the rubber a bit!
Then using the remaining clamp and Nuts, I simply slotted the silencer into place, where it joins the cat, there were no visible holes before I then tightened up the clamp.
